About American Cancer Society

The American Cancer Society (ACS) is a nonprofit organization founded in 1913 and headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. As the largest voluntary health organization in the United States, ACS is passionately committed to saving lives from cancer. The organization is working to create a world with less cancer and more birthdays—a world where cancer never steals another year from anyone’s life. ACS combines a relentless passion with the wisdom of nearly a century of experience to make this vision a reality and get results. Thanks in part to its work, 11 million cancer survivors, and countless others who have avoided the disease, will celebrate a birthday this year.

How ACS works

ACS has 12 chartered divisions, more than 900 local offices nationwide, and a presence in more than 5,100 communities.
